The greater Boston area had its first chance to experience “High Tech U,” a program created by SEMI’s Workforce Development Institute. Some 40 students from local high schools participated in classes held at Teradyne, Intel, and Northeastern University. The program’s curriculum includes hands-on experiments that introduce the kids to semiconductor manufacturing and chip logic concepts as well as job planning sessions. In the photo, Teradyne engineer Peter Roman shows students how a semiconductor chip is tested.
